WRITTEN LESSON:
 

One of the greatest benefits of this program is that you will begin to build a business and a life by design. Let me start by making a distinction:  distinction between design and default.

The definition of design is: to have as a purpose, to intend, to create, to fashion, to execute or construct according to plan.

The definition of default is: a selection made in the absence of a choice an automated action or in our language an action completed with no awareness. The translation of this is automated action in the absence of choice. Now what we do we mean by this? Living a life by default is basically one reaction after another reaction, after another reaction. These reactions are typically a result of past experiences and programming and have little to do with awareness and free choice.

Now living a life or building a business by design means that you leave everything behind (as best you can) and, standing in this very moment create the design of your business and life from a blank piece of paper. Free from the concept of ‘have to’, ‘should’ and ‘could’ but laden with the word ‘choose.’ As much as possible we want to choose the outcome of our lives free from the constraint of the past. As it says in every mutual fund brochure “past returns are not indicative of future results.” One of the challenges to this is that we generally sleepwalk through our day, meaning that we are unconscious to the design that we would choose to create. So one of the keys is to begin to wake ourselves up, making us more conscious to how we live our lives. We will provide you the tools to ‘waking yourself up’ in coming lessons. For now, follow along.

Simply by giving you the exercise of designing your business and life is a huge step. You would never construct a house without an outcome in mind of what you want it to look like, so how can we live a fulfilling life and have a successful business if we do not have a outcome drawn out?

So what are the components to creating a life and a business by design? One, get a blank piece of paper. Two, set aside everything that the past has you believe to be true. Three, take on the belief that you don't know anything and that everything is possible. Consider how much there is to know in the universe, how much of that information do you really know? Four, start with the end in mind. **This could mean at the very end as in starting with your Eulogy.
